For me it’s the thought that it’s somewhat probable that a future presidency is going to use that as a harassment / culling list
I’m a member of a socialist party, so nothing.
In the US, you’re probably not wrong. That ship has sailed, at least in the near term.
Reason number one for people, in general, is that it either costs more than zero, or requires more than zero effort. Or, people who lean that way, anyway.
Better to take over the Democrats tbh. If they wanted to keep their party they shouldn’t have gone full Reagan.
I don’t register for any party. I vote.

I’m registered Dem, so I can vote in primaries, but I donate to and participate with Democratic Socialists of America.
And I yell “do better and I might!” whenever the DNC asks for money (they can’t hear me, it’s mostly text and junk mail).
In the US at least, the only thing that registering for a political party lets you do is vote in their primaries (in some states. In the rest of the states, it doesn’t matter at all).
You can vote whichever way you want regardless of party. Parties are for people who want to push an agenda.
Unless you live in a state with closed primaries. Then its forced! And you only get to see the party you registered with and independent counts as its own
I live somewhere with open primaries. I’ve never registered with any party.
Because registering to vote is not a thing here. Unless you mean register a party as in starting one? In which case a soc-dem party already exists in my country and it is hot garbage :p

Because I don’t need to to vote for them. Besides, no party have proven deserving of my membership fee.
Political parties keep us divided and are one of the major issues in this country.
Organizing is the only way to effect change, workers should build their own political party.

Best start believing. Politics directly affects literally every single aspect of your day-to-day life whether you believe in it or not.
He has a right to an opinion. Modern day politics is just catering services to the Epstein class or sociopathic class.
We’d do the same for anyone claiming they don’t believe the earth is round, or that vaccines kill.
Sure, they can have their opinion, but we aren’t going to reinforce the delusion.

How much mental energy do you spend in political thought and how has the payoff for this expenditure been, under your own terms?

Take a look around you and reflect. Politics and policies are mostly for the rich. Look at crimes and their “punishments” there are so many crimes literally just for poor people. You live in a broken world made for the upper class. You are nothing more than sheep for the sociopathic class.
The system works but only when people participate. When it feels like it isn’t working, it’s because there aren’t enough people working it. All the uninterested and hopeless carry enough weight to tip the scales, and until they start getting involved, they are all sitting on the side of letting the people who fucked it up keep on fucking it up more.
No that’s bullshit. Capitalism creates a power dynamic that capitalists can take advantage of turning everyone into sheep end of discussion. You know why a child rapist can be elected president twice? Because of that exact power dynamic.
And just think what would have happened if only 10% of the people who decided that they didn’t have time to vote against fascist pedophiles had actually shown up.
He would have been one and done. He only won by about 1% more votes. About a third of registered voters didn’t vote.

I’m sorry you feel this way and I’m sorry things are rough for you and others.
I do an honest painstaking attempt to fulfill my civic duties, as I understand them. The most important one of these is to attempt to deactivate the dehumanization and polarization that, the way I see it, is the root cause of the collapse of our civilization.
Psychos and dick bags will always have an advantage regarding securing power, whatever color they paint themselves in. What people that have moral concerns and care and want to see a better life for us all, as I’m sure you do, can do to this effect is to stop feeding the monsters. Not fall in their divisive hate speech, to not look at our fellow humans as if they have no soul because they were inoculated by a different mind virus than our own.
You see right wing vs left wing or maybe rich vs poor. I see healthy people and sick people. The sick spread their disease of hate, fear and dehumanization so others follow in their suit and they can get what their sick hearts desire… and many do, but the problem was never the people, it’s the disease.
I’m a human too, btw, and I’m pretty sure I’ve seen some of your posts somewhere and iirc you seemed witty and well intended. I’m tempted to look at your post history now, but I’ll do it after I finish my reply now lol.

And the most miserable of men, those who have taken and harmed their way through this world in hopes of getting rid of the seething pain of a utilitarian, loveless existence where people are all instruments, maybe they will some day see people like us just being happy and kind to each other with basically nothing in our hands, and they might never admit it, but in the bottom of their minds they’ll know they’ve been missing out and have wasted their entire lives.

Friendly reminder that many small local positions on the ballot, as well as ballot measures, are both not as vehemently partisan and extremely important for influencing policy for your immediate community. Even if you don’t like or want to participate in federal level politics, this is not a great reason to not vote for anything at any level.

That’s the neat part. It doesn’t! We have a 2 party system under a highly centralized government with some elected regional positions with no real relevant regional power. They’re mostly considered “gift positions” political parties choose people to run for as favor exchanges. Municipalities and city/neighborhood level gov institutions are elected and do hold actual power to change the well being of their neighborhoods, but they are notorious for being toxic dens of corruption and thievery. There have been a few good mayors that have done wonders regarding crime, green areas or sports and whatnot in their neighborhoods, and when they do it’s common for them to later run as presidents or senators. Our senators and congressmen basically never go to the briefings or even votes. There have been innumerable critically important issues and cries for useful regulation in many regard, particularly the last few decades, and if there are no serious votes or money in play, nothing gets passed… or worse, no one reads what gets passed leaving our legislative corpus plagued with loopholes born out of both incompetence and ill will. Our ignorant population keeps providing these people with power, only to see them sell off our critical natural resources, ecosystem, rights and well being to foreign interests. The right wing’s in bed with the US and the left has been in bed with China for a while, formerly Spain. They set their abusive companies up, take all our money for basic services and critical infrastructure, and what do you know? Regulation is always incredibly convenient for them, and a very small amount of politicians and/or business types get rich by helping them destroy our society.
If I see someone that’s worth voting for, I’ll vote for them. This has just has not happened so far.
