If you care about homelessness or want to fix it you are part of the problem. There is no solution because the system is working as intended. This is what left wing people don’t get because in their worldview allowing homeless is wrong, an affront to human dignity.
In a right winger’s viewpoint homelessness is right. People deserve to be homeless for the choices they made. It serves an important function of demonstrating what happens if you don’t conform. To them you can’t fix homelessness anymore than you can fix the sun rising.
Except you can easily objectively fix homelessness… with homes.
There are many times more empty homes than homeless in the US. Part of the problem though is that there are not always homes where they are needed.
Let me be clear, as I have worked on homeless task forces and I deal with the homeless on a regular basis. We, as a society, choose to allow homelessness because it serves our system. I believe it is wrong, but there is no denying not only do most people not care, but they feel that homelessness is a problem for the individual.
I would encourage people to explore Housing First which is essentially what you are saying. It offers solid and proven policies to tackle homelessness in your community.

I didn’t realize just how bad people are until I went toe to toe with local business owners about the homeless population. They didn’t want to solve any problems and wanting to solve the problem was the problem in their eyes. They were absolutely happy just pushing the homeless away from their storefronts and property.

Uhm it’s actually very roundabout and obtuse. Most societies don’t do thought crimes, unless they’re authoritarians crushing decent, so your have to explain why people who think that are a problem and articulate real world example of people who think that just for people to conceptualize.
