First, if they ever elect a Democrat again he will be all for peace and bi-partisanship again and will say you have to respect the office and be careful about how to treat Trump’s legacy.
Second, if he doesn’t Supreme Court will change their mind about everything in 5 seconds and start blocking him on every step.
I haven’t seen the White House look this demolished since that time aliens blew it the fuck up.
I don’t care about the Whitehouse. I don’t care about The Kennedy Center. I don’t care about the arch or the reflecting pool.
Assuming there’s anything left at the end of his term, the first thing we should do is pass an amendment establishing that no one is above the law. If a president breaks the law, he should have justice.
Maybe that will make some kind of difference. Nothing less than Trump and his co-conspirators rotting in prison will save the U.S.
Maybe it isn’t worth saving. I used to think we were on a path to some day live up to our hype. However, I don’t see it anymore.
I agree that should be priority number one. The number two priority should be confiscating wealth gained from abuses of power. Any money the Trump family gained during these last many years belongs to the people.
He’s not (supposed to be) above the law now. The problem is the system and those who should hold him to it are equally corrupt so stuff like impeachment goes nowhere
You’d need a way to charge, prosecute, and penalize a sitting president even even the deck is stacked with his cronies, and one that couldn’t be used to drown a future non-shitty president in bogus charges
I don’t care about the Whitehouse. I don’t care about The Kennedy Center. I don’t care about the arch or the reflecting pool.
No one cares about these items themselves, they’re just emblematic of this administration’s narcissism and ignorance.
the first thing we should do is pass an amendment establishing that no one is above the law.
We don’t need a law that says people can’t break the law… That already exists. It’s called the law. We do clearly need to severely limit the powers of the executive branch. Get rid of pardons, get rid of executive orders, etc. It’s proven that these powers can and will be abused. The glacial pace that govt moves at takes years to catch up with illegal executive orders.
I used to think we were on a path to some day live up to our hype. However, I don’t see it anymore.
We’re definitely doing the opposite but the pendulum swings hard sometimes. I mean just 11 years ago we had a black Democratic President.
The Supreme Court ruled that the president is above the law. The only way to permanently reverse that without destroying everything is with a Constitutional Amendment.
I mean he literally could shoot someone on 5th Avenue and get away with it. His whole second election was only due to the fact that if he wasn’t elected he would have been placed into jail in any fair country… But hey America, land of the corrupt pedofiles.
Yeah there’s no getting that smell out of there.
I say to restore relationships we let the Canadians, British, and Dutch burn it to the ground again. Then say fuck the Alamo and give Texas back to Mexico.
It’ll take a lot more than us burning your house to the ground again for us to ever forgive America for what it’s become.
Then say fuck the Alamo and give Texas back to Mexico.
Why punish Mexico like that?
Apparently, trash must be dumped somewhere?
Let me get moved to Texas before we do that, please!
I’m old enough to remember when they tore down the berlin wall. I was pretty young but I recall seeing it on mtv. And regular people getting in on the action with sledge hammers and whatever.
I hope they just let us have a go at that fucking arch. Or after it’s knocked down then let us have a go at it.
Could do it for charity. $50 for 5 min with a sledge hammer. Proceeds go to ice murder victims families.
You say that like you expect Trump is going to leave and that there will be a next (duly elected) President…
The elections are managed by the states in USA. Don’t give up early
Just like when Gore lost? Let’s get real, the system is fully rigged, now. The orange asshole isn’t leaving that office until his body is quite dead and cold.
Gore lost because the election was close enough that it could be ratfucked by guys in suits. If the election isnt close, then it can’t be ratfucked.
Now, it’s possible that he won’t leave his bunker alive. Hitler didn’t, either.
The orange asshole isn’t leaving that office until his body is quite dead and cold.
And even then…
See: Mitch McConnell
You’ll better be ready to enforce your 14A3 and 2nd if he doesn’t surrender quickly
Nobody should be stating anything online that can be used against them in the aftermath. It doesn’t even matter if they do absolutely nothing… anything said can and will be used against you.
I’m not from USA. May the Trump admin fuck up a false flag striking themselves, scattering the remains for the wind
Trump is clearly doing everything he can to ensure that doesn’t happen. I think it’s pretty likely he declares a state of emergency for whatever reason and says “sorry, no election this year!”, or uses ICE to intimidate people at the polls and who knows what other batshit nonsense he’ll cook up.
The same military who he is denying wartime death payouts to “because the department of War isn’t in a war, it’s just a prolonged military conflict that is only legal to continue if congress declares it a war”
The same military with friends aboard the ship that Trump won’t allow to be recalled for resupply, rotations, etc
If he tries I hope he ends up with the weapons pointed his way
Keep pushing more defeatism, that’ll surely help.
So we should just accept that it’s over and the GOP has already won? That’s defeatism.
No. The choice is not binary. We can rationally acknowledge that there is an objective risk and then work to address that risk.
There is a huge difference between defeatism and stating an objectively real risk.
There is, and what you said is defeatism. Your comment leaves no room for success, just acceptance that Trump will be the next president. There absolutely is a risk that the GOP will be successful in there election fuckery, but comments like yours are like propaganda that can lead to apathy whether that’s your intent or not. It’s not a warning, it’s accepting that it’s a foregone conclusion
You say that like you expect
You’re the only one being an absolutist. I called out that the article makes the foregone conclusion that there will be another president. It’s not a foregone that won’t. It’s also not a forgone conclusion that we will.
If we want to face a risk, we must first admit that there is a risk.
Not sure what you quoted there, but I never said those words.
I never said there wasn’t risk. My reply to your initial comment is pointing out that what you said is defeatist. Per my other reply, you can see that I literally said that the GOP could be successful.
You’re misquoting me and claiming I’m and absolutist when I never once said anything is certain, and I fact said the opposite.
I quoted my words so that you could see that I didn’t say anything absolute nor defeatist…
No. Let’s not. Remodel it to make it functional, but don’t tear it down and rebuild it. That would be a horrible precedent and it would just continue happening over and over, because a lot of politicians are petty assholes.
How else are we going to get all the Russian and Israeli spy tech out? Honestly just set fire to it all and try again
Honestly just set fire to it all
Given how much he’s pissed off Canada, they might be willing to oblige again.
Common misconception. Canada wasn’t a country in 1812 when British forces burned down the white house coming from what is now called Canada. Either way, Canada should continue to take credit just to piss off the aggressors.
Canada burnt it down once, we should do it again!
That was the British. Canada didn’t exist then.
Sort of, Canada definitely existed but as a French colony and then as a British one. Also every 90s kid grew up with Heritage Minutes telling them it;s Iroquoian word for village that Cartier thought was the name of the country. So Ca-Nada has been around a while.
It was still the British who burned it down though
Probably an unpopular opinion, but the time to stop Trump was BEFORE he tore anything down.
It’s too late now, the only thing that should be done is some kind of restoration so the East Wing doesn’t look like a bomb crater.
I say we keep it and rename it to “The DJT Presidential Hall of Shame”. Turn it into a history museum for all the presidential buffoonery that has occurred for all administrations. Entire damn Whitehouse.
President can live under the stupid new arch.
Tear it all down, and make Trump pay for the original destruction and construction, and the demolition and reconstruction, and use only the best materials.
Then pass a law that nothing can be named after Trump, with a single exception: Sewage Treatment Facilities. Then the people who live in the area can say “Hey, the Trump smells particularly smelly today,” and “Yes, the Trump is even stinkier than usual.”
Yes! Confiscate the many billions that he and his family and minions have stolen from the people. Take it back to repair the damage to the infrastructure and reimburse taxpayers.
The country won’t be able to do this because, as strange as it is, 33% of it is literally in a cult that worships the man. Only with the true and full will of the country behind you could you hope to do what needs to be done: full asset seizure and trial for crimes and treason and whatever proper associated punishment follows.
But you can’t do it, because he fully controls 1 out of every 3 people you see on the street in America. While that’s far from a majority, it’s enough to make a proper accounting impracticable. 33% of the country would be going feraljak about the government being weaponized.
But even beyond him, there’s something else that desperately needs doing and that’s an overhaul of the Constitution. The document was fantastic for 1787. It is woefully inadequate to run the modern United States. Its biggest shortcoming, ironically, is the absolute inability of government to properly and deftly respond to the very success that it’s principles have brought to it.
None of it’s going to get done until everybody is so miserable that they no longer have anything tribal on their stupid, small minds. There’s going to have to be real pain, like starvation and suffering going on before real change is going to be able to be effected because people are still fat and happy enough to sit around and guffaw while Trump owns the libs, even as the cost of everything around them doubles.
Step 1: Get elected as POTUS.
Step 2: Move into the White House.
Step 3: Immediately burn the whole place down.
Step 4: Stand atop the ruins waving the Canadian flag. Get gunned down by an angry mob. Go out in a blaze of confusing glory. That monstrosity is larger than all maga penises combined. Well-done!
I love how much larger it is compared to the rest of the whitehouse. I’m not American but it needs to tore down, along with everything he ever touched.
This is a time for healing and unity. If we prosecuted this president for the actions he took in office, the other side will do it worse in the future. Let’s focus on the future inside of the massive corruption this president has done. Here kids under 6 in schools can have free lunches again.
It was nonsense thinking like that that gave Trump his second term.
How about the presidents (whoever they may be) are judged appropriately for the crimes they commit. Like for example… Rape, murder, treason, etc.
If this is a bit, I don’t get it
That’s what they said about Nixon and the end of the civil war, which started this whole mess. Republicans always go for blood. Playing nice has proven again and again to fail.
