Freeman’s employer did not see it this way. When police questioned her (thus collaborating with ICE), she openly said that she disagreed with ICE separating immigrants from their families. Trinity Health fired Freeman and has refused to make any public statement on the events of May 28.

Questioned by the police? It’s time to shut the fuck up

    Good on her though

We need more people like Chloe Freeman.

Freeman’s employer did not see it this way. When police questioned her (thus collaborating with ICE), she openly said that she disagreed with ICE separating immigrants from their families. Trinity Health fired Freeman and has refused to make any public statement on the events of May 28. It is criminal that this and other hospital systems allow ICE and CBP agents to enter medical buildings.

    Luigi death stare

Ohh! I love it when we LARP that we have some sort of legitimate legal / justice system!

We have an enforcement arm for the parasitic pedophile rapist class.

I’m an anarchist, brainlet, I just think it’s embarrassing to try and get mad at the hospital about it.

Pragmatic ones pick their battles instead of chasing martyrdom at the first opportunity.

Yep, and it’s not even about picking battles or rEjEcTiNg aUtHoRiTy it’s about not expecting a fucking hospital to lead the initial charge of the revolution.

Lemmy loves to shitpost about anarchism but I don’t hear about any CEOs getting fragged on a weekly basis yet these lazy fucks think a corporate hospital admin team is supposed to hold the door.

The vast majority of hospitals in the US do not allow police entry without a warrant, safety concern or an emergent situation (or a procedural reason - victim interviews and similar are sometimes done in hospital, as well as supervision of physical evidence collection (or the actual collection itself if the hospital doesn’t have a certified forensic examiner (or legal/jurisdictional equivalent) on staff)), why are you just making stuff up you clearly don’t know about dude?

You’re just flat wrong though - the police do not have the right to enter a hospital beyond the public sections (generally, the waiting rooms) without a warrant or permission from the hospital. The hospital in this case gave the police that permission, and unless a statute exists in Michigan specifically allowing this (if one exists I haven’t found it), they are absolutely at fault for doing so.

Wrong. That’s why the guy got away and she was able to assist him in the first place, specifically because they weren’t barging into operation areas.

                My goodness, am I really?

ICE agents accompanied him into the hospital but did not thoroughly guard him at all times. […] Then, Chloe Freeman, a Registered Nurse working her shift, entered the CT room, spoke with O.B.P., and helped him walk through several doors, exit the hospital, and walk out free. He has not been recaptured. (emphasis mine)

Oh - I’m terribly sorry, but you appear to be mistaken. ICE were allowed into the hospital, and as written did not accompany him into the radiology room (since personnel generally do not stand around CT scanners due to the radiation hazard this makes sense). So the hospital does therefore seem to have been at fault for allowing them to accompany the patient - but thank you for looking out for accuracy in comment sections!

Legal support, sure. But in addition to being prosecuted, she was also fired:

Trinity Health fired Freeman and has refused to make any public statement on the events of May 28. […] This non-profit is the sixth largest U.S. hospital system, with 125,000 employees, and one of several Catholic Church affiliated systems that operate dozens of hospitals across broad swathes of the country.

So this aspect isn’t just legal, or local.

Having previously worked for the “Catholic” hospital system Ascension, FUCK Catholic hospital “systems.” We used to be a local system that provided top-notch, academic, and ethical care. The nuns would walk around and hold motherfuckers accountable. I watched everything degrade quickly after Ascension took over. The nuns left, and slowly everyone in leadership, who used to be experienced doctors, nurses, and social workers, were replaced by people whose only experience was in business.

On September 29, federal prosecutor Jerome Morgan, assisted by FBI agent Jennifer Runyan, publicly charged a Michigan nurse with assisting the escape of a man held by ICE from a hospital.

That sure is a guy with a name and probably address.
